What is a toilet flange, anyway? As Nate, the No Nonsense Plumber, explains to USA Today Homefront, a toilet flange is the physical connection where the toilet attaches to the piping. It keeps the toilet securely in place, creates a watertight seal to prevent leaks, and ensures everything stays properly aligned with the plumbing.
Nate cautions that this isn’t a job for most DIY-type folks.
“While it is an easy job when all conditions are perfect, we see a lot of floors ruined because homeowners or other non-plumbers tried it. If you have to pull the toilet, we recommend letting a pro reset it to prevent leaks that could destroy your home.”
